Getting Started

How do I know if my loved one needs home care?

If your loved one is struggling with daily activities like bathing, dressing, cooking, or managing medications, home care may be the right choice. Other signs include frequent falls, memory issues, social isolation, or a recent hospital stay. We offer a free in-home assessment to help you determine the best level of care.

What is the first step to getting care started?

Simply give us a call or fill out our Request Care form. A care coordinator will reach out to schedule a free, no-obligation in-home assessment. During this visit, we’ll learn about your loved one’s needs, preferences, and daily routine to create a personalized care plan. Visit our How to Get Started page for a step-by-step overview.

Is there a minimum number of hours required?

We understand that every family’s situation is different. We offer flexible scheduling to meet your needs, from a few hours a week to around-the-clock care. During your free assessment, we’ll work with you to find a schedule that fits your family and budget.

Services & Care Plans

What types of home care services do you offer?

We provide a full range of non-medical home care services including personal care, companion care, Alzheimer’s and dementia care, respite care, 24-hour care, live-in care, and more. Visit our Services page for a complete list.

Can I customize a care plan for my family member?

Absolutely. Every care plan we create is tailored to your loved one’s unique needs, preferences, and lifestyle. We work closely with families to design a plan that provides exactly the right level of support, and we adjust it as needs change over time.

Do you provide 24-hour or live-in care?

Yes, we offer both 24-hour care and live-in care options. With 24-hour care, caregivers work in shifts to ensure continuous awake supervision. With live-in care, a dedicated caregiver stays in the home and provides consistent, around-the-clock companionship and assistance.

Caregivers

How do you select and screen your caregivers?

Every caregiver at New Day Home Care undergoes a thorough screening process that includes a comprehensive background check, reference verification, skills assessment, and in-person interview. We hire only experienced, compassionate professionals who share our commitment to exceptional care.

What happens if we’re not satisfied with our caregiver?

Your satisfaction and your loved one’s comfort are our top priorities. If for any reason you’re not happy with your assigned caregiver, simply let us know and we’ll work quickly to find a better match. There is no penalty or awkwardness — we want every family to feel completely at ease.

Are your caregivers trained in specialized conditions like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s?

Yes. We provide specialized training for caregivers who work with clients managing Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, and other conditions. Our team receives ongoing education to stay current with best practices in memory care and mobility support.

Costs & Payment

How much does home care cost?

The cost of home care depends on the level of care needed, the number of hours, and the type of services provided. We offer a free, no-obligation in-home assessment to help you understand costs and find a solution that fits your budget. Our goal is to make quality care accessible to every family.

Does insurance or Medicaid cover home care services?

Coverage varies depending on your insurance plan, Medicaid eligibility, and the type of care needed. Some long-term care insurance policies do cover in-home care. Our team can help you explore your options and navigate the process. Veterans may also qualify for VA benefits that cover home care.

Safety & Trust

Is New Day Home Care licensed and insured?

Yes. New Day Home Care is fully licensed by the State of New Jersey and carries comprehensive liability and workers’ compensation insurance. You can trust that your family is protected and that we meet all state regulatory standards.

Are background checks performed on all caregivers?

Absolutely. Every caregiver undergoes a thorough criminal background check, drug screening, and reference verification before being placed with a client. Your family’s safety and peace of mind are non-negotiable for us.

Scheduling & Availability

How quickly can care begin after the initial assessment?

In most cases, we can begin care within 24 to 48 hours after the initial assessment. For urgent situations, we do our best to arrange same-day or next-day placement. Contact us and we’ll work to accommodate your timeline.

Can we change our care schedule after starting?

Of course. We understand that needs evolve over time. You can increase, decrease, or adjust your care schedule at any time. Just speak with your care coordinator and we’ll make the changes seamlessly.

Medical vs. Non-Medical Care

What’s the difference between medical and non-medical home care?

Medical home care (also called home health care) involves skilled nursing services prescribed by a physician, such as wound care, injections, or physical therapy. Non-medical home care — which is what New Day provides — focuses on assistance with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, meal preparation, companionship, and transportation. Learn more about our services.

Can your caregivers administer medication?

Our caregivers can provide medication reminders to help ensure your loved one takes their medications on time and as prescribed. However, as a non-medical home care agency, our caregivers do not administer medications (such as injections). If skilled nursing care is needed, we can help connect you with appropriate medical providers.

Family Involvement

How will I be kept informed about my loved one’s care?

Communication is a cornerstone of our approach. We provide regular updates and care notes so you always know how your loved one is doing. Your care coordinator is always available to answer questions, discuss any concerns, and adjust the care plan as needed.

Can family members be involved in creating the care plan?

We strongly encourage it. Family input is invaluable in creating a care plan that truly reflects your loved one’s needs, preferences, and daily routines. We work collaboratively with families throughout the entire care process.

Emergencies & Support

What happens in case of an emergency?

Our caregivers are trained in emergency response protocols. In any medical emergency, they will call 911 immediately and then contact our office and your designated family members. We have procedures in place to ensure your loved one receives prompt attention in any urgent situation.

Is there someone available to call outside of business hours?

Yes. We offer 24/7 support, 365 days a year. Whether it’s a weekend, a holiday, or the middle of the night, you can always reach a member of our team. Call us anytime at (908) 430-0444.

What if my loved one’s needs change over time?

That’s expected, and we’re prepared for it. We regularly reassess care plans and adjust services as your loved one’s needs evolve. Whether more hours are needed, a different type of care is required, or the schedule needs to change, we adapt quickly and smoothly.
